Isarine is a fantasy world with rich, interwoven stories. While all Isarine stories take place in the same world, each story is meant to stand on its own, and are meant to be enjoyed without having prior knowledge of other stories.

About Isarine

The world of Isarine is as hostile as it is mystical, with fantastical secrets hidden around every corner. The stories of Isarine take place over the span of centuries, with characters and adventures and plots interwoven in a massive tapestry, including heart-pounding sagas of brave adventurers and heroes, tear-jerking tales of romance of and interpersonal conflict, and nail-biting investigations into the mysteries and horrors that hide in plain sight.

At their hearts, every story of Isarine centers around the concept of love in all its many forms.

The best way to enjoy the stories of Isarine is by sampling each story and deciding whether the genre and characters appeal to your tastes and interests. While the stories all work better together, there will never be critical information from another source required to enjoy each story.

A Diverse Cast

Characters in the world of Isarine are the driving force of the stories, and as such, they represent a wide gamut of (fantasy) cultural backgrounds, neurodivergence, and 2SLGBTQIA+ identities. These different factors feature more or less in stories depending on how relevant they are to each character’s personal identity and the plot of their story.

However, there is always room in Isarine to grow and improve. If you feel a demographic is underrepresented or misrepresented by the characters of Isarine, please reach out. I am happy to host any discussions about representation and inclusion to make Isarine a more beautiful world.

  • The fabric of life in the world of Isarine is referred to as essence, and it exists nearly everywhere in the continent, representing the very lifeforce of the planet. Humans who wield the power to manipulate essence are called weavers, for their ability to draw the elemental strands of essence from the world around them and weave them into powerful magical attacks. Typically distinguished by color, different weavers have unique affinities to various hues of essence, depending on their personality, genetics, and environment.

    However, humans are not the only creatures in Isarine capable of manipulating the elemental energies of the wild.

  • Feared by all are the feral beasts of Isarine. Monsters suffused with essence, beasts take unique forms, and are hyperaggressive and incredibly powerful.

    Though hunters frequently find themselves having to hunt beasts to keep their homes safe, each encounter with a beast is a heart-pounding, life-or-death struggle, and even experienced hunters must take care not to grow complacent during their hunts.

    The most powerful of beasts are able to fully shed their corporeal shell and become Transcendants, fearsome eldritch entities with godlike powers. In Aleksarian recorded history, no hunter or group of hunters has ever been successful in attempting to fell a Transcendant.

  • The bravest of weavers who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving Isarine are called hunters. These hunters work tirelessly with the Hunter's Guild to fulfill commissions to slay monsters, provide escorts, and gather materials as needed.

    The Hunter's Guild is the only organization that spans all borders and nations of Isarine, and local Hunter's Guilds are considered political sanctuaries.

  • Pearl, the Divine of White Essence, is a god who bestows her blessing upon a human from the nations of Isarine to combat the beasts and Transcendants that terrorize its lands.

    Commonly referred to as the Chosen, or Pearl’s Chosen, the hunter selected by Pearl is a shining beacon of hope for many in the dangerous world, a world where hope is hard to come by.

    However, despite their status, every Chosen selected so far has been slain, unable to fulfill their quest. As a result of the continued failure, many have become disillusioned with the idea of the Chosen, though most still show some level of deference.

    • Acir Solevat (he/him/they/them)

      • The shining genius of Aleksaria, Acir Solevat is famous for his advancements in Medessence and bringing upon a golden age of alchemical research.

    • Asha of Lake (she/her)

      • The "Colorless Hunter of the Wilds", Asha is one of the fiercest hunters in all of Isarine, despite her inability to weave essence.

    • Evalice of Aleksaria (she/her)

      • A fierce and formidable hunter, Evalice serves as the royal symbol of Aleksaria's might and purity.

    • Mihn (they/them)

      • A mysterious hunter of the Beastlands, Mihn's control of essence seems almost supernatural. Little is known about them.

    • Osea of Meikka (she/her)

      • A Finaen refuge raised in Aleksaria, Osea has become the symbol of hope and heroism for many citizens in the Holy Kingdom.

    • Pahli of Oren (she/her/they/them)

      • The author of "The Dark Depths of Isarine", Pahli is a proud 'West Camp Failure' who's dedicated her life to sharing the incredible and horrifying secrets of Isarine.

    • Rae of Lakse (she/her)

      • The younger sister of Asha, Rae is the ultimate prodigy weaver and is the pride of the Wilds.

    • Strix (they/them)

      • The leader of the organization Obsidian Bloom, Strix is an efficient and dangerous assassin who never leaves a witness.

    • Valryk (he/him)

      • The Black Knight of Aleksaria, Valryk is one of the most well-known Chosen, despite his insistence to stay out of the public spotlight. He is revered for his incredible strength and devastating crimson flames.

    • Violethand (he/him)

      • A fearsome bandit leader known for his ruthlessness, Violethand is a name that strikes fear in the hearts of Aleksarians.

    • The Belt of Isarine

      • A colossal mountain range separating Naru and the Wilds from Aleksaria and Finae.

    • The Black Forest

      • A lush canopy that's grown over a bed of noctite ore, the Black Forest is a dangerous biome lurking with beasts, which devours essence and light alike. It is the only path through the Belt of Isarine.

    • The Crippling Sands

      • Once rumored to be the remains of a lost civilization, the Crippling Sands is a stretch of inhospitable desert between Aleksaria's wall and the Belt of Isarine.

    • Gaek Peaks

      • A mountain range in the northwestern edge of Isarine, the Gaek Peaks are thought to protect the villages of the Wilds from the massive creatures of the Beastlands.

    • The Feral Woods

      • “Where a weaver goes to become a hunter”, the Feral Woods is a dense forest located in the eastern Wilds. Teeming with life, many describe the Feral Woods as a breeding ground for Transcendants.

    • Veik Lake

      • A crystal clear body of water in the northern half of the Wilds, the fertile land of Veik Lake is a fierce battleground for hunters and beasts alike.

    • The Zulen Mines

      • A cavern system running underneath the Belt of Isarine, the Zulen Mines is a dangerous maze of lucrative ores and minerals, connecting Naru's capitol city of Bushira to the Black Forest.
